Early February, as the dark winter nights were showing signs of passing and the light was increasing, an hour after sunrise, the deer would return to the safety of the woods. I was already in the woods before sunrise, knowing their pathways back into the woods. Sitting on the woodland edge, my camera nested between a natural tripod in the tree, I got this shot. He was totally unaware of my presence, and since I was lower than my subject, I was able to give strength to the image.
